As we look forward to the start of a new decade, Pastor Sherry encourages Bearden UMC to seek kindness. We are never more like God than when we choose to be kind.
Isaiah 63:7-9
I will tell of the kindnesses of the LORD, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the LORD has done for us– yes, the many good things he has done for the house of Israel, according to his compassion and many kindnesses. He said, “Surely they are my people, sons who will not be false to me”; and so he became their Savior. In all their distress he too was distressed, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.
Big Idea
Kindness is becoming rarer in our society, though not a day goes by that we don’t meet someone who could use a kind word or gesture. Kindness is simply treating others the way that God treats you. God is kind to people who just don’t deserve it, yet he wants us all to be redeemed.
Application
If you want to live a happy and fulfilling life, take every opportunity you get to be kind to other people. A great way of doing this is by being more mindful of what you say. Your tongue is a “kindness kit” that you take everywhere you go; it has the potential to make someone’s day.
