Power

John 14:25-31

25 ‘All this I have spoken while still with you. 26But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. 28 ‘You heard me say, “I am going away and I am coming back to you.” If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.

How I love this promise. I hold on to this promise, especially in the hard times. Just think the same power the raised Jesus from the dead is the same power that is in me. It is the same power that healed the sick, resisted temptations, gave wise answers and other miracles within Jesus. Could I heal the sick, resist temptations, learn to speak and act wisely? With the power of the Holy Spirit, yes, I can. Problem is that I don’t trust this power. I don’t completely believe I have this kind of power within me. There are times I see the Holy Spirit in others and times I can feel the Holy Spirit working in me.

Jesus, give me courage to trust your spirit that lives in me. Send me strength to believe what you can do in me and through me to bring glory to your kingdom. Open my eyes to see your spirit in others. Help me understand how much you love me and want to give me a life filled with joy, a life that thrives every day. Assure me with boldness to step out of my comfort zone and do something that brings you glory.
