Hope for Sudan: Clean water – that is the priority for the thousands of southern Sudanese who have returned to their homeland after the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement. Clean water will not only provide longevity of life, it will provide a quality of life. By eliminating parasite borne illnesses, children play and learn according to God’s plan, and adults can be productive for their families and villages. Clean water loosens the death grip of cholera and other diseases consistent with contaminated water. Holston has a goal of 19 wells in and around Yei, Sudan – two on the United Methodist Compound, one in the community, and one at each of the rest of the 17 United Methodist Churches.
